Graham Petty

MA, Registered psychotherapist

I provide therapy to youth (14+) and adults, helping people identify and address the root causes of the challenges they face, including trauma, attachment wounds, loss, chronic stress, and other overwhelming life experiences.

I believe that each person is unique and inherently worthy, resilient, and capable of loving and being loved. We all do the best we can with the tools we have been given to navigate our families, communities, and the broader social systems in which we live. When people are denied effective options for meeting basic needs such as safety, connection, and autonomy, protective patterns can develop that serve them in the moment but later evolve into the issues that bring them to therapy—anxiety, depression, PTSD, emotional dysregulation, low self-worth, and difficulties in relationships.

The use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is at the heart of my approach to helping individuals recover from the effects of trauma. EMDR reduces the emotional charge of past experiences, allowing individuals to feel calmer in the present and better able to employ new, more effective strategies for relating to themselves, others, and the world around them.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent 15 years supporting youth and families, delivering programs on topics such as parenting, healthy relationships, and emotional regulation. I have a particular wealth of tools for supporting youth and adults navigating parenthood.

I value the relationships I build with my clients. I aim to collaborate at every step of the therapeutic process, offering transparency and choice. My style is warm, genuine, direct, and conversational. Being helpful, supportive, and affirming of all identities is part of my professional stance, as well as how I strive to show up in my personal relationships and community.

I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to those interested in working with me. I look forward to hearing from you and discussing how I can help.
